Nasreddin (Turkish "Nasreddin Hoca", Persian ملا نصرالدین, Arabic: جحا transl.: Joĥa ,نصرالدين meaning "Victory of the Faith", Albanian "Nostradin Hoxha" or just "Nostradini", Bosnian "Nasrudin hodža", Uzbek "Nasriddin Afandi" or just "Afandi", Kazakh: Қожанасыр "Khozhanasir", Uyghur "Afanti" [1][2][3] ) is a legendary satirical sufi figure who lived during the Middle Ages (around 13th century), in Akşehir, and later in Konya, under the Seljuq rule.[4] Many nations of the Near, Middle East and Central Asia claim the Nasreddin as their own (i.e. Afghans,[5] Iranians,[4] Turks,[6][7][5][4] and Uzbeks[8]). His name is spelled differently in various cultures and is often preceded or followed by titles "Hodja", "Mullah", or "Effendi" (see section "Name variants"). Nasreddin was a populist philosopher and wise man, remembered for his funny stories and anecdotes.
Much of Nasreddin's actions can be described as illogical yet logical, rational yet irrational, bizarre yet normal, foolish yet sharp, and simple yet profound. What adds even further to his uniqueness is the way he gets across his messages in unconventional yet very effective methods in a profound simplicity.[who?]
1996-1997 was declared International Nasreddin Year by UNESCO.

About Euro 2008 :

The 2008 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as Euro 2008, will take place in Austria and Switzerland from 7 June to 29 June 2008. It is the second successful joint bid in the competition's history, following the UEFA Euro 2000 hosted by Belgium and the Netherlands. The 2012 competition in Poland and Ukraine is scheduled to become the third jointly-hosted tournament.
A total of 16 teams will participate in the tournament. Austria and Switzerland automatically qualified as hosts; the remaining 14 teams have been determined through qualifying matches which started in August 2006. Austria and Poland will be making their first appearance in the tournament. The winner of Euro 2008 will represent UEFA at the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa, unless Italy wins the tournament, in which case the runner-up will be entered, as Italy is already entered as the winner of the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

The International Children's Day (ICD) is celebrated in numerous countries, usually (but not always) on June 1 each year.The ICD had its origin in Turkey in 1920 (April 23, 1920) and later in the World Conference for the Well-being of Children in Geneva, Switzerland in 1925. It is not clear as to why June 1 was chosen as the ICD: one theory has it that the Chinese consul-general in San Francisco (USA) gathered a number of Chinese orphans to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival in 1925, which happened to be on June 1 that year, and also coincided with the conference in Geneva.June 1 has since been observed as the ICD by numerous countries, especially by Communist countries; in the Western world the ICD is usually celebrated on other days of the year (if at all), and there is often little public awareness about these celebrations. Drawn by Claire Rammelkamp, a 14-year old, Winner of the “My Future” UK doodle contest for students. According to Google, over sixty-five thousand doodles were created around the theme “My Future”.

The logo is titled â€œThis or this?â€ and shows two variants of future earth; one destroyed (by global warming, pollution and/ or war), and one alive and green, powered by natural energy. The two â€œoâ€ letters in the Google logo are formed by these two alternative futures, and the green â€œlâ€ is a question mark.

There is a seriously wired thing in this logo. For years, Google designers have been playing with the Letters in the Logo by designing them with different shapes. But if you see this logo closely, you will understand one thing. The Letter “L” in the word google is missing. I’m pretty sure its a mistake they overlooked. Hmm.. they should have corrected it later.

Anyway, I like the chocolate over the berry.

Google was officially born on September 7, 1998 as per a post on the Google Help centre. A look down the corporate history of Google, I quote this small snippet.

â€œOn September 7, 1998, Google Inc. opened its door in Menlo Park, California. The door came with a remote control, as it was attached to the garage of a friend who sublet space to the new corporationâ€™s staff of three. The office offered several big advantages, including a washer and dryer and a hot tub.
