Logo Google

Google has had several logos since its renaming from "BackRub". The current official Google logo was designed by Ruth Kedar, and is a logotype based on the Catull typeface. The company also includes various modifications and/or humorous features, such as cartoon modifications, of their logo for use on holidays, birthdays of famous people, and major events, like the Olympics. These have become known as Google Doodles.

Google My Future logo contest winner 2007

Drawn by Claire Rammelkamp, a 14-year old, Winner of the “My Future” UK doodle contest for students. According to Google, over sixty-five thousand doodles were created around the theme “My Future”.

The logo is titled “This or this?” and shows two variants of future earth; one destroyed (by global warming, pollution and/ or war), and one alive and green, powered by natural energy. The two “o” letters in the Google logo are formed by these two alternative futures, and the green “l” is a question mark.

Google wishes a Happy Valentine’s Day - February 14th, 2007

Happy Valentine's Day

There is a seriously wired thing in this logo. For years, Google designers have been playing with the Letters in the Logo by designing them with different shapes. But if you see this logo closely, you will understand one thing. The Letter “L” in the word google is missing. I’m pretty sure its a mistake they overlooked. Hmm.. they should have corrected it later.

Anyway, I like the chocolate over the berry.

[UPDATE]:

Dennis Hwang the Google Doodler responds about the missing ‘L’ in the logo.

When you look at the logo, you may worry that we forgot our name overnight, skipped a letter, or have decided that “Googe” has a better ring to it. None of the above. I just know that those with true romance and poetry in their soul will see the subtlety immediately. And if you’re feeling grouchy today, may I suggest eating a strawberry.

A very happy Valentine’s Day to everyone!

I don’t get how someone can understand that green stem as an L. Wondering how many people really understand that in the first thought.

Remembrance Day, 2006

category :  , , ,

Google UK and Google Canada displays this logo for the Remembrance Day on 11th November, 2006.

Remembrance Day 2006

Remembrance Day (United Kingdom, Australia, Canada), also known as Poppy Day (South Africa and Malta), and Armistice Day (United Kingdom, New Zealand and many other Commonwealth countries; and the original name of the holiday internationally) is a day to commemorate the sacrifice of veterans and civilians in World War I, World War II, and other wars. It is observed on 11 November to recall the end of World War I on that date in 1918. The observance is specifically dedicated to members of the armed forces who were killed during war, and was created by King George V of the United Kingdom on 7 November 1919 (possibly upon the suggestion of Edward George Honey though Wellesley Tudor Pole, who established two ceremonial periods of remembrance based on events in 1917).
